Back To School: Great Valley School District 2021-22 Calendar

MALVERN, PA — Back-to-school planning is happening in Malvern, with calendars now available to help parents prepare for the first day in Great Valley School District and info on policies as school starts.

The first day of school for most students in GVSD is Aug. 30. Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates may be subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point.

A big question in school communities is masks — and if they will be required. GVSD is making masks optional in school but required on busses. Here are the details of its mask policy:

• Masks will be optional for all students and staff when they return to school in the fall. Those who are not vaccinated, or who feel more comfortable doing so, should wear a mask.
• Masking will be required on school busses, as mandated by PDE and the CDC.
• GVSD will maintain distancing of at least 3 feet to the greatest extent possible in schools.
• Students who are required to quarantine due to probable or confirmed COVID-19 exposure will be able to stream into classes during their quarantine period.
• GVSD will continue to work with the CCHD on contact tracing and will continue to notify its school communities about any confirmed COVID-19 cases through school-based emails and the COVID-19 dashboard on the District's website.
• Ventilation standards and cleaning protocols implemented last year will continue.
• Diagnostic and screening tests will remain available to students and staff.

Here are important dates to know for the 2021-22 school year in Great Valley School District:

First Day: Aug. 30

Labor Day: Sept. 6, and no school Sept. 7

Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 25-26 with early dismissal on Nov. 24

Winter Break: Dec. 24-31 with early dismissal Dec. 23

Spring Break: April 11-15

Last Day: June 10
