Child Healthcare In Chesco Gets $3.25M State Grant

The funds will benefit healthcare and education programs for Devereux Foundation and Nemours Children-Malvern Specialty Care Center.

MALVERN, PA —The Keystone state's office of budget awarded $3.25 million to benefit for capital improvements to the health services in Malvern area that benefit children with special needs.

These grants were awarded through the Assistance Capital Program.

A total of $500,000 was awarded to the Devereux Foundation and $2.75 million to Nemours Children’s Health.

“These grants will help healthcare and education projects in our region receive the funding they need to move forward,” state Rep. Kristin Howard, a Chester County Democrat who represents the 167th district, said in announcing the grants.

  • Devereux Foundation: The hospital will undergo a construction project to add classroom space and update its acute children's behavioral healthcare center from semi-private to single rooms. Major areas of construction include demolition, drywall, windows, roofing, electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Nemours Children-Malvern Specialty Care Center: Construction of a new Children- Malvern Speciality Care Center to provide a comprehensive suite of health and wellness offerings for the community.
