Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Opens Thursday

Organizers for the annual Devon Horse Show and Country Fair are making the final preparations for what is expected to be one of the largest crowds in the show’s 119-year history. The 10-day show is scheduled to begin May 21 at the show grounds on Lancaster Avenue and last through next week, ending on May 31.

“If advance ticket sales are any indication this year’s Devon Horse Show and Country Fair might be the best attended of any show in recent memory,” said the organizers in a statement.

This year’s show begins with the highly competitive Junior Weekend and rolls right into a full week of action at the Dixon Oval, highlighted by the jumping exhibition at the Sapphire Grand Prix of Devon on Thursday night. Classes include the high stepping American Saddlebreds, the popular and beautiful Coaching division and the professional hunters.

The Devon Horse Show and Country Fair is one of the longest running and largest outdoor multi-breed competitions in the United States. The event also includes the Country Fair that offers shopping, rides and games for kids, multiple dining options and special entertainment events. “The Devon Horse Show is a family affair for so many. Each year we see the children and now the grandchildren of folks that have attended the show,” says show President Rich O’Donnell. “We are very excited for this year’s event. In addition to the great competition, I think people will be very excited to see how beautiful the grounds look this year.”
