Great Valley Voter Guide 2023: Who's On The Ballot, Where To Vote

The general election is coming up on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

MALVERN, PA —The general election in Pennsylvania is Tuesday, Nov. 7.

With the election nearing, Patch is looking to help voters be better informed about who is running and where to vote. '

Patch will be posting the unofficial returns at 8 p.m. when the polls close.

Chester County offices

Four candidates are running for three seats on the county board of commissioners. The three-member board is made up of two members from the majority party, which is currently Democratic, and one member from the minority party, which is Republican. The county, which was traditionally Republican, turned Democratic in the 2020 election.

  • Democratic incumbents—Josh Maxwell and Marian Moskowitz
  • Republican—Eric Roe, a former state representative, and David Sommers, a social studies teacher, are running for commissioner.

Chester County commissioners earn an annual salary of $86,389 and serve a four-year term.Four candidates are running for three seats on the county board of commissioners.

David Sommers (R)

Sommers is a social studies teacher at Bishop Shanahan High School, Downingtown. He was a former legislative representative for the Association of Catholic Teachers Local 1776 and a Republican committeeman for West Goshen Township Area 20.

Eric Roe (R)

Roe represented District 158 in the state House, which covers nine municipalities in southern Chester County, for two years.

Roe of West Bradford Township works as a client service manager at a financial firm in Downingtown.

Josh Maxwell (D)

Maxwell, 39, a lifelong resident of Chester County, previously served as mayor of Downingtown.

Marian Moskowitz (D)
Moskowitz of Malvern was elected commissioner in 2019, taking office in 2020. She is the chairwoman of the board.
