Ex-Cop Charged In Sexual Assaults Of Three Chesco Girls

CHESTER COUNTY, PA —After just three months on the job as a Sharon Hill police officer, Tyler Humphreys was arrested Friday on charges of sexually assaulting three girls over eight years in Chester County.

Humphreys, 21, of Malvern was released on $275,00O bail after being arraigned before District Judge John Bailey on charges of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and related charges.

Humphreys was hired on Sept. 7 as a full-time police officer and was appointed as a school resource officer at Academy Park High School in Delaware County.

School resources officers assist the school administration in maintaining a safe environment.

Superintendent Dr. Brena G. Wynder said Humphreys has been terminated, noting that none of the allegations are related to Humphreys' work in the district.

State police investigated after receiving a state-required report about alleged incidents of sexual offenses committed by Humphreys.

District Attorney Deb Ryan said this shocking and unconscionable criminal behavior is beyond comprehension.

"This a man who took an oath to uphold the laws of our Constitution and this Commonwealth, and he violated our most vulnerable and innocent victims," Ryan said. "The defendant deprived them of normal childhoods for his depraved sexual gratification."

State police investigation

The first victim was nine years old when she was forced to perform oral sex on Humphreys, who was a juvenile at the time, on numerous occasions in East Whiteland Township, according to state police.

The second victim, a 15-year-old girl, told police that Humphreys provided her with alcohol and raped her while she was unconscious in Charlestown Township, according to police.

The third victim, who was 19 at the time, reported that she was sexually assaulted by the defendant between Nov. 25, 2022, and December 2, 2022, in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, police said. The same woman said abuse also occurred between 2014 through 2018.
