Heavy Rains Soak Philly Region, Causing Delays, Flooding
Thunder and heavy rain hit the area overnight and continued Wednesday morning.

Thunder and lightning struck much of the region overnight, and a flash flood advisory remains in effect through much of the day Wednesday.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms, leading to flash flooding in some poor drainage areas, is possible throughout the day on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A ”Hazardous Weather Outlook” was issued for the region early Wednesday morning.
Flash flooding warnings were in effect overnight for Montgomery, Chester, Bucks, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties. Although the warnings expired before Wednesday morning, “more rain is expected, and additional flooding is possible,” according to emergency officials.

A flash flood advisory is in effect for the region until 1:15 p.m.
Thunderstorms also prompted a ground stop at Philadelphia International Airport Wednesday morning, airport officials announced.
“Due to t-storms, PHL is on a ground stop until 845 AM. Contact your airline, call 1-800-PHL-GATE or visit http://phl.org for status,” the airport said via its official Twitter page.
A high of 81 is expected around 3 p.m. Thunderstorms will continue unabated through the morning, and will become ”scattered” but steady in places throughout the area until 9 p.m.
