Strong Voter Turnout Today In Malvern

MALVERN, PA —The weather was picture perfect Tuesday afternoon and democracy was in action as a steady stream of voters cast their ballots at the Malvern Center of the Arts in the First Baptist Church of Malvern, 146 Channing Ave.

Dr. Stephen Gross, a volunteer with Willistown/Malvern Democrats, said the turnout was extremely high.

“The weather is great and there are a lot of issues,” he said. “A lot of people are here for the first time. This is democracy in action.”

By 2:30 p.m, a total of 839 of the 2,231 registered voters cast their ballots and a steady stream of voters .

The 1.3-square mile borough has a population of 3,416.

The parking lot was filled and parents and their children were walking to the polling place.
Democrat Marty Laney, a borough councilwoman, said the borough is very fortunate that everyone is voting.

A Democratic table was set up next to a Republican table with literature available for all of the candidates.

State Rep. Kristine Howard, a Democrat is competing with Gail Newman, in District 167 for a two-year term.

Cathy Raymond, a Republican committeewoman, said she anticipates a large turnout.

“There are a lot of people voting,” she said.

The polls close at 8 p.m.

After the polls close, the results are dropped off at the Chester County Services Center, West Chester. The in-person votes will be added to the mail-in ballots for the final results.
