'Swatting' Report At Chesco Charter School Is Unfounded: Police
The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School in East Goshen was among dozens of schools that received false threats of shooters.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School in East Goshen Township was among numerous schools that received false reports of shooters in the schools this week, police said Thursday.
Schools across the state were targeted by so-called swatting, computer-generated calls, that make claims of active shooters.
At 1 p.m. Wednesday, the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department was dispatched to the charter school at 1332 Enterprise Drive following a report of a threat against the school.

Police determined the threat had been generated from a swatting call and that it was not credible.
Numerous other departments across Pennsylvania were notified about similar swatting calls.
In the last week, police report an increase in hoax calls following the March 27 death of six people in a school shooting in Nashville.

Swatting is an alarming prank call crime that has been on the rise in recent years.
It occurs when someone calls 911 making false reports of serious emergencies, such as violence, drugs, or hostage situations.
Swatting calls made with malicious intent can draw heavily armed response teams from law enforcement to the location given on the call.
These fake emergency calls can be extremely dangerous for both civilians and officers, according to police.
