Do Not Recycle These Items, Newtown Township Officials Say
If these items are included with recyclable materials, they can lead to the entire load to end up in a landfill, officials said.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Officials in Newtown Township are reminding residents of recycling guidelines after seeing an increase in non-recyclable items being commingled with recyclables.
According to the township, below are items that should not be included in recycling:
- food or beverage waste
- chip bags
- Styrofoam
- plastic bags
- toys
- mirrors
- window glass
- ceramics
- batteries
- construction debris
- pizza boxes with grease
Officials said when non-recyclable items are mixed in with recycling, whole loads can be rejected and sent to the landfill.

Residents are urged not to place recycling in plastic or trash bags when setting items out for collection.

- cardboard
- plastic #1–5 and #7
- aluminum cans
- glass bottles
- glass jars
Residents are reminded to always rinse containers and keep recycling items empty and clean.
