Family Displaced After Weekend House Fire In Broomall

Numerous fire companies helped battle a fire at a Broomall home that started Saturday morning and displaced a family of five.

BROOMALL, PA — The Broomall Fire Company and numerous other fire companies quickly quelled a blaze at a Broomall property over the weekend, and the community is rallying for the displaced family.

According to the Broomall Fire Company, its members and others at various nearby fire companies were called to Cedar Grove Road in Broomall for a building fire at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday.

First responders found smoke showing and requested a working fire dispatch.

After establishing a water supply from a nearby fire hydrant, crews were able to locate the fire and worked to extinguish all hotspots.

Additional crews worked on ventilating, searching the structure, and conducting overhaul to ensure the fire was fully out.

The fire was placed under control after about 30 minutes and the last crews returned available shortly after 9 a.m., the fire company said.

No injuries were reported.

Companies that assisted Broomall firefighters were, Springfield Fire Company - Station 44, Newtown Square Fire Company, Manoa Fire Company - Station 56, Rose Tree Fire Company, Garrettford-Drexel Hill Fire Co., Bon Air Fire Company, Marple Township Ambulance Corps, and Marple Township Police.

A friend of the affected family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to support them after the fire.

According to organizer, Katie Corvaglia, the funds will help the Smith family "cover the expenses they'll face during this difficult period."

"Thankfully, everyone is safe, but their home is currently uninhabitable, and they will be displaced for an unknown amount of time," Corvaglia wrote on the page. "Any support would be greatly appreciated."

As of Monday morning, $11,130 of the $15,000 goal has been raised.
