Gable Park's Field Expected To Open This Week: Newtown Township

Landscaping and trail enhancements will be done once the "field construction" work has completed. That work will not affect field use.

Newtown Township’s Gable Field turf replacement project is almost completed. It is anticipated that the field should be reopened during the week of April 28th.

The multi-use field is normally used daily by the community for numerous sports and activities, and field permits are issued by Marple Newtown Recreation for various baseball, soccer, lacrosse and other teams.

Gable Park’s playground, basketball court and trail (other than the portion immediately behind the turf field) have all remained open during this work – visitors were just asked to remain off of the turf playing field area while the replacement took place. For those who have been watching the process as the old turf was removed, the stone underneath regraded and augmented, the new turf and infill installed, the lines placed and all of the new fencing installed, it has been quite a significant project! There will still be some landscaping and trail enhancements done once the "field construction" work has completed. However, these will not affect the use of the field.

The community of Newtown is proud of all of the organized non-profit youth teams and their volunteers who run the different sports leagues, and hope that when completed this Gable Field Turf Replacement capital project enhances their enjoyment and learning of their sports. Again, we anticipate the field to be reopened during the coming week.
