Police: 3-Year-Old Drowned at St. Albans Pool

An unresponsive girl was pulled from the outdoor pool shortly before 5 p.m. and was transported to Bryn Mawr Hospital before she was pronounced dead.

A 3-year-old girl drowned at an outdoor pool at St. Albans Swim Club this afternoon, according to Newtown Township police.

Newtown Township police and ambulance were dispatched to the St. Albans Swim Club pool at 4:49 p.m. on a report of a drowning victim, said Chief of Police Dennis Anderson.

When they arrived, someone was already administering CPR to the girl, and she was transported by Newtown ambulance to Bryn Mawr Hospital, Anderson said.

The girl was pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m., Anderson said.

Newtown Township police and the Delaware County coroner are continuing investigation, Anderson said.

 closed shortly after the incident, and a St. Albans Swim Club employee at the front desk at about 5:45 p.m. said the staff there was currently too busy to comment.
