Preschool Open House Tuesday in Marple Newtown

• Open House: The Friendship Academy Preschool will hold an open house at its second location at 85 North Malin Road in Broomall, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Aug. 13. The Friendship Academy Preschool is an inclusive program with a curriculum that offers reading, prewriting, math and science literacy to prepare your 3 to 4-year-old child for kindergarten. Please call 610-565-2353 for information.
• Fun: Two for Tuesday DVD rentals at Marple Library. Rent two DVDS for the price of one. Two new releases at $2.12, two older releases for $1.06 or one of each for $1.53. Children's DVDs are always free.
• Donate: Red Cross Blood Drives: Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church in Glen Mills from 2 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 13, and Knights of Columbus Newtown Square, at 327 Newtown Street Rd. from 2 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 14. More information here. 
• Traffic: Check on your commute on the PennDOT traffic cameras before you leave the house. But the traffic will likely be terrible—it's traffic.
• Weather: The forecast calls for temperatures to reach the 80s with scattered thunderstorms. Things are expected to cool down in the evening with partly cloudy skies. 
• History: Per the History Channel, on this day in 1961, Berlin was divided and in 1982 the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High debuted.
