Students Collect Over 6,000 Books For Read Across America
Marple Newtown High School has collected over 26,000 books in the past seven years.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Read Across America Book Drive, under the direction of teachers Molly Fahnestock and Laura Gambone, collected new and gently used books for the Norristown Area School District.
This community service project is an extension of the curriculum in Reading Strategies classes and Child Development classes. The purpose of the collection is to bring attention and motivation to the importance of reading. Marple Newtown High School has collected over 26,000 books in the past seven years!
This years totals: The first place was 1,672; second place was 1,326; and third was 1,185. School total was 6,485. This was the highest collection yet.
