What's Closed On MLK Day In Marple Newtown

In remembrance of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the nation observes the third Monday of January each year, around the time of King's birthday, Jan. 15, as a public holiday. This year, the day falls on Jan. 16.
Check out the list below to see what's closed on this Martin Luther King Day.
- Government offices–Both the and township municipal buildings will be closed as well as the county offices.
- Banks–Many banks in the area will be closed for the day.
- Schools–All schools in the area will be closed in observance of the day.
- Trash/Recylcing pick-up–Newtown residents should call their specific trash/recycling provider for their holiday pick-up schedule; Marple's trash schedule that occurs on a Monday/Thursday schedule will only have one trash pick-up this week on Thursday.
- Post offices–All post offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
- Transportation–SEPTA will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Driver's license photo centers will be closed.
