4 Charged With Mail Theft Crimes In Delco

Three New Jersey men and a man from Philadelphia were charged after a traffic stop in Media led to police finding numerous pieces of mail.

MEDIA, PA — Delaware County authorities filed mail theft-related charges against four men recently.

Charged are Erik Delone, 31, of Philadelphia; Adrian Ramirez, 23, of Camden, New Jersey; Alvin Almonte, 23, of Pennsauken, New Jersey; and Utibe Bassey, 21, of Sicklerville, New Jersey.

All four are charged with conspiracy to commit mail theft, drug and drug paraphernalia possession, and receiving stolen property.

The charges stem from a July 18 incident in Media.

According to Action News, police stopped a vehicle, with the four men above inside it, on the 200 block of North Jackson Street July 18 when they saw it exhibiting suspicious behavior.

During the stop, police found numerous pieces of mail, including packages, that were being sent from Media addresses to various locations, the Delaware County Daily Times reports.

Authorities also found checks on Delone that were from a Newtown Square church and a trust account.

All four men were held after failing to post 10 percent of $175,000 bail each, court records show.

They are scheduled for Aug. 8 preliminary hearings, according to court documents.
