• Delaware County restaurant inspections: Uncovered food, problems with persons in charge (delcotimes.com) — Food-safety inspectors recently cited Maris on West State Street in Media for issues like missing paper towels, uncovered food in a cooler, and shellfish without proper tags. Several other Delaware County bars and restaurants also received violations, while two Chester establishments earned clean reports, giving local diners a clearer picture of how nearby kitchens are performing.
   

• Man fatally injured in Upper Darby fire was a longtime firefighter (delcotimes.com) — A longtime Lansdowne firefighter was killed and his wife, an EMT who serves the Media community, was critically injured in a major apartment fire in Upper Darby. The blaze damaged 42 units, displaced dozens of residents, and prompted a national firefighter nonprofit to raise emergency funds for the Rowley family while investigators continue probing the cause.
