Car Theft Suspects Jumped Into Delco Pond To Avoid Capture: Police
Pennsylvania State Police said four people led authorities on a chase in Delaware County before jumping into a large pond to avoid capture.
TINICUM TOWNSHIP, PA — Pennsylvania State Police said four people were taken into custody after they fled police and jumped into a pond in an effort to avoid capture early Thursday morning in Delaware County.
The incident began at about 1:24 a.m. when troopers were called to Tinicum Island Road in Tinicum Township to help local police in a vehicle pursuit.
According to state police, the suspects reportedly committed several vehicle break ins throughout the county and stole a Dodge Durango in Prospect Park Borough.

Prospect Park Police found the stolen vehicle and started pursuing it, which ended on State Route 291 in Tinicum when the fleeing vehicle crashed, police said.
After the crash, the four suspects got out of the vehicle and jumped into a large pond to evade police, according to authorities.

Troopers assisted local police establishing a perimeter around the pond, and eventually all four suspects were taken into custody without incident, police said.
Pennsylvania State Police aided in the apprehension of the suspects and were not the arresting agency.
The suspects' names were not made immediately available.
