The troopers saw a handgun protruding from the center of the front waistband, partially exposed through his shirt, police said.

Troopers took Kucharczyk into custody without incident and took a loaded .380 Smith and Wesson handgun, without a holster, from his waistband.

Authorities said Kucharczyk did not have a valid carry-concealed permit and eventually learned he is a convicted felon and thus is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Troopers also found about .18 grams of suspected heroin, approximately .5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia on Kucharczyk

Kucharczyk was remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $56,600 cash bond.
