Delco Residents 55 And Older Inivted To Join 'Return to Learn Week'

Formerly Elder Week, Return to Learn Week offers residents 55 and older chances to learn new skills, make friends, and dive into new topics.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Delaware County Community College next month is holding its 40th annual Return to Learn Week, giving residents 55 and older a chance to learn new skills, make new friends, and immerse themselves in new subjects.

Return to Learn Week, formerly Elder Week, will be held May 13, 14 and 15, during which community members at the College’s Marple Campus, 901 S. Media Line Road in Media.

Attendees will find courses ranging from American Sign Language to Astronomy and Astrochemistry, from Civil War History to Landscape Design, from Contemporary Short Stories to Earring Making, and iPhone and Android Basics to Downsizing.

All courses will be specially designed mini-classes.

Students can also take fitness and yoga classes and learn Tai Chi and Qiong. “There is literally something for everyone,” said Tricia Scepansky, the College’s director of Community Education.

Registration is $130 for all three days, or $115 for two days, which includes eight workshops, continental breakfast and tempting lunches.

Most classes and activities will take place in the college’s STEM Center, which is located next to the parking lots and easily accessible for all students.

Advance registration is required and limited. Classes and workshops are filled on a first-come, first-registered basis.

The preferred form of registration and payment is by phone with a credit card at 610-359-5025. The registration deadline is May 9. Mail-in registrations should be postmarked no later than May 9.

Delaware County Community College cannot guarantee class placement but will do its best to enroll registrants in the classes they most desire.

Placement is based on rolling enrollment.
