Delco's First Health Director Resigns, Search For New Leader Underway
Melissa Lyon was the county's first health director. Now, officials are looking for qualified candidates to fill the vacancy.

MEDIA, PA — Delaware County is on the hunt for a new director of its health department.
Melissa Lyon, the first director of the county's newly formed Delaware County Health Department, vacated the position in late August.
Lyon was set to leave the role in October, saying she wanted to spend more time with her family in New York State.

She was the county's first ever health director and oversaw the department's launch.
Now, Deputy Director Lora Werner is serving as interim director while the county finds the department's new leader.

Qualified applicants must possess a Master's degree in public health or a related area and have least 10 years prior experience as a local public health director.
Experience in a PHAB-accredited health department is preferred.
Qualified candidates should have access to a motor vehicle and ability to meet and maintain the county’s automobile insurance requirements.
Delaware County is offering a salary of $140,000 or higher depending on qualifications and commensurate with experience, we well as a comprehensive benefits package starting.
Relocation assistance will also be available for the successful out-of-area candidate.
