Details Released On Escaped Prisoner In Delco
Pennsylvania State Police shared new details on the man they said escaped authorities' custody Tuesday and led police on a chase.
ASTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Authorities have shared additional details on the man they said escaped custody, stole a vehicle, then led police on a chase before being apprehended Tuesday.
Pennsylvania State Police said the suspect was Jaliel Ali-Johnson, 27, of Philadelphia, was apprehended as he came out of a wooded area near the Interstate 476 southbound off ramp to Baltimore Pike Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, Ali-Johnson escaped from a Pennsylvania State Constable vehicle at about 2:33 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Baltimore Pike and Stoney Bank Road.

Action News reports the Ali-Johnson was taken into custody Monday night after authorities saw him peering into a vehicle, then provided false identification to investigating officers and had a small amount of drugs on him. He was reportedly charged with loitering, prowling, and drug violations.
Ali-Johnson ran off toward Valleybrook Road, then stole a vehicle parked on Highland Drive and drove off, heading north on Baltimore Pike, according to police.

Upper Providence Police saw the vehicle fleeing and tried to stop it, but Ali-Johnson sped off, going north Baltimore Pike, police said.
Ali-Johnson drove through Media Borough, then crashed into a pickup truck at Baltimore Pike and Turner Road, according to police.
He ran into a wooded area, which led police to create a perimeter and search the area.
After a brief search, State Police Troopers and officers from Media Borough Police Department located and arrested Ali-Johnson as he came out of a wood line at the Interstate 476 southbound off ramp to Baltimore Pike.
Ali-Johnson was taken to Pennsylvania State Police in Media where he was processed an arraigned on the charges of escape, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, and related crimes, court records show.
Ali-Johnson is being held after failing to post $150,000 bail and is scheduled for a Sept. 2 preliminary hearing, according to court documents.
