Military Contractor In Delco Laying Off Workers

Alloy Surfaces Company Inc. is not getting enough orders to remain open, and thus will lay off more than four dozen workers.

CHESTER TOWNSHIP, PA — A Delaware County military contracting company is laying off workers due to the facility's closure, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the department, Alloy Surfaces Company Inc. will close and this result in layoffs.

A total of 52 people will be laid off.

Layoffs will begin Aug. 30 and run through Dec. 31.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Alloy Surfaces contracted with Britain’s Royal Air Force, the U.S. military, and more.

A spokesman for the company told the inquirer it has not received enough orders to stay open.
