Allegheny County Clean Air Hosts Town Hall Meeting to Voice Shenango Coke Works Pollution Concerns

Residents will meet with representatives from the County Health Department and local congressmen to discuss industrial air pollution.

Residents from Brighton Heights, Bellevue, Avalon, Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Emsworth, Kilbuck, Neville Township, Robinson, Kennedy, Stowe, and McKees Rocks are meeting to discuss air pollution concerns.

The residents think that industrial facilities such as the Shenango Coke Works can affect Allegheny County air quality. They will meet with Jayme Graham of the Air Quality Division, Jim Thompson of the Environmental Department of the Allegheny County Health Department, and representatives from the offices of Congressman Mike Doyle (PA-14), Senator Wayne D. Fontana (D-Brookline) and Senator Matt Smith (D- Castle Shannon) for a town hall meeting.

Community members will voice their continuing concerns about Shenango Coke Works’ compliance record and advocate for the plant to abide by all Allegheny County air regulations.
