Information sessions will be Aug. 19, 23.

Community College of Allegheny CountyUPMC and Vibrant Pittsburgh will conduct two information sessions about a new partnership to provide free training for nurse aide positions.

The first session will be from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 19 at CCAC-Allegheny Campus, 808 Ridge Avenue, on Pittsburgh's North Shore. There will be another session from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug 23 at Hill House’s Kaufmann Center.

CCAC and UPMC have jointly developed the curriculum to prepare individuals ages 18 to 24 for nurse aide positions in UPMC long-term and acute care facilities. At the core is CCAC’s Nurse Aide Training program, which the state fully accredits and prepares those who complete the program to take the state certification exam. Nurse aides provide patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Participants must pass background, drug and alcohol, and physical examinations before beginning the program. Selection will be based on an interview process. Those who successfully complete the program may interview for positions in the UPMC system.
