Health Department Finds 'Imminent Hazard,' Closes Moon Pizzaeria
The Allegheny County Health Department has shut down this Moon eatery.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has ordered the closure of Cardello Kitchen on Moon Clinton Road in Moon because of what the department described as an "imminent hazard."
An inspection on Monday revealed an active sewage backup in the basement. A stress test was performed and evidence of 100 percent blockage was found. Sewage was backing up at three separate floor drains; in front of a sink by the clean dish drying rack, in front of a freezer and near the back door.
A sewage odor was present.

The restaurant was instructed to restrict access to the basement and fully clean and disinfect it, then contact the health department to request a reinspection when the backup is fixed and the cleanup is fully complete.
A "closed" placard is posted at an establishment when an imminent health hazard is identified at a restaurant or kitchen if it has been operating without proper permits. It is unlawful to operate a food facility with a "closed" placard.
