Moon School Board Approves Teacher Contract, Annual Budget

The  approved both its annual and a tentative agreement with the Moon Area Education Association at its meeting tonight. 

School Board President Mark Scappe said he could not yet comment on the agreement. The board approved the measure in a 7 to 2 vote: Board members Sandy McCurdy and Jeffrey Bussard voted no on the measure. 

Nearly 300 members of the teachers union will vote on the contract at 6 p.m. tomorrow. A union spokesperson said union members have been presented with a copy of the agreement and are in the process of approving it. 

If approved by the union the new faculty contract will take effect July 1.
