Michael Baker Tapped to Modernize New Orleans Rail System
The Moon-based company received a three-year, $4.8 million contract for the project.

Moon-based Michael Baker Corp. has been awarded a $4.8 million rail and roadway engineering contract to modernize the New Orleans Rail Gateway.
The company will provide travel forecasting as well as general rail and roadway engineering intended to improve the 35-mile freight rail system, which is the fourth largest in the country.
The three-year contract was awarded earlier this month through the Louisiana Department of Transportation.

The company described the project in a statement as a public-private partnership that includes the Federal Railroad Administration, the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission and Amtrak, among other stakeholders.
