Moon to Host Forum on Planned Waterfront Park

Moon residents are invited to attend a forum May 15 to learn more about plans for a 17-acre township waterfront park. 

The park will serve as a public-access point to boaters and fishers and provide a waterfront stop on the Ohio Trail.

The forum will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 15 at the Moon Municipal Building. Residents will have a chance to review initial findings related to the condition of the park's planned site.

The park's master planning effort is expected to be completed by winter, township Communications Director Alexis Sergeant said in a statement. 

In 2010, the township received a $30,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the project. DCNR agreed to match up to $60,000 in fund-raising for the park. The township purchased the park, located off University Boulevard, in 2002. 

The park is slated to be located on the site of the now-defunct RB&W Corporation bolt manufacturing plant. When completed it will provide the township's only public-access marina to the Ohio River.
