Moon Schools Releases Statement on Furloughs
The district says it hopes "many, if not all furloughs will be recalled."

The released a statement today on the of 10 teachers approved at last night's school board meeting.Â
From district spokeswoman Megan Edwards:
"At the Moon Area School District Board of Education meeting on April 23, the board approved the furlough of 10 employees effective the close of the 2011-2012 school year. The action was taken at this time due to a contractual notification deadline in the Moon Education Association [MEA] agreement which dictates that notice must be given to employees by April 30th, so that the option can remain available during the budget process. This motion will support program changes, reorganization, and promote a more effective and efficient educational system. We value all of our employees and it is our hope that many, if not all furloughs will be recalled."
