Moon Steeler Fans Make Their Predictions

Local football fans head to bars to take in Super Bowl XLV.

It's going to be a close game.

No, not that game.

At , general manager Allen Conred will be tasked with choosing the patron sporting the most Steeler gear at the big game tonight -- the lucky fan will walk away with a Steelers Snuggie and a Coors cooler.

But in a bar lined in black and gold -- the numbers 43 and 7 appear most often -- and more than a couple Terrible Towels in eyeshot, it's going to be a tight match-up.

Conred said he thinks the evening will likely be full of nail-biting competition.

"It's going to be the Steelers 21 to 17," Conred said. "I just think most people look down on the Steelers -- look at the calls [by officials] that have been made all season.

"Pittsburgh's always the underdog," he said.

At the bar, patrons ordered their first rounds of drinks and took in the opening commercials of the game.

At halftime, Conred will be serving up a free buffet stocked with all of Viola's signature dishes. It helps that Pittsburgh-area bars have some experience dealing with Super Bowl Sundays, he said.

"It's usually pretty busy on Super Bowl nights," Conred said. "We've done the [black and gold] competition before when its the Steelers in the Super Bowl."

As Josh Miller readied for kickoff at the bar, he said Vegas betters have doubted the Steelers out of pure jealousy of the franchise's winning legacy.

"I just feel we have six Super Bowl rings and people want us to lose," he said. His friend, Joe Nucci, predicted the game will end at 31-28 -- with Pittsburgh on top, of course.

But patron Tim Thomas said he won't be making any score predictions -- he's just preparing for an uncomfortably close game leading up to a Steelers victory.

"But I'm predicting a win," he said. "No one in this bar is saying the Steelers won't win."
