Moon Board of Supervisors Honors West Hills Food Pantry Leader

Board also authorizes payments on township projects at its monthly meeting.

The last night recognized the volunteer director of the West Hills Food Pantry for her 22 years of service.

Sandy Hershberger was honored with a Citizen Spotlight award at the board's monthly meeting. Hershberger is the volunteer leader of the Carnot Road-based food pantry, which each week serves as many as 200 families from the Moon, Crescent, Neville Island and Coraopolis areas.

"It's surely very special," Hershberger said of the township recognition. "I'm glad to receive it and want to share it with all the volunteers who are very important and make [the pantry] possible."

Board approves payment applications to contractors

The board approved a contractor payment application to Wampum-based Youngblood Paving Inc. in the amount of $177,528.46 for the township's 2011 road paving program.

In March, the the company the contract for the annual paving program at an overall base bid of $829,173.40.

The township also approved a payment application to Sapp Roofing for the 2011 Mooncrest Community Center roof replacement in the amount of $13,828.23. The South Hills Area Council of Governments will contribute $12,435 toward the payment. After it receives an invoice, the township will pay $1,393.23 toward the project.
