"She's a smart kid, and she's a sweet kid," said Dawn Frankeny, whose daughter is a close friend of Clark. "This is totally out of character for her.
"Her family is scared to death," Frankeny said.
Frankeny said the teen's disappearance has worried and confused Clark's family. The girl has no prior juvenile history, according to police.
Frankeny said her daughter, whom police have yet to interview, was in close contact with Clark in the days before she left home. She said Clark's behavior seemed typical, and Clark did not indicate that she would leave home.
Police Capt. Greg Seamon said yesterday that the department is investigating leads and interviewing Clark's friends.
Frankeny said while police investigate, Stiehl has questioned Clark's friends and acquaintances to try to gather whatever information she can.
Frankeny said Clark's mother is "distraught and frustrated" since the girl's disappearance.
"We believe [Clark] was coerced," Frankeny said. "We think someone told her to leave her phone.
"She literally vanished," she said. "There has been no Facebook activity. No Emails. No phone calls."
