Pittsburgh International Airport Issues Alert; Travelers Beware
Find out here how long Pittsburgh International Airport is now advising travelers to arrive before their flight.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — With Independence Day on the horizon, Pittsburgh International Airport has issued an alert for those who plan to fly during the upcoming long holiday weekend.
Airport officials are advising travelers with flights between 5 a.m.-8 a.m. to arrive 2.5-3 hours before their scheduled flight to accommodate longer ticketing and security lines. The alert was issued after extremely long lines on Monday morning caused some passengers to miss their flights.
"We're experiencing record-breaking crowds this summer, which means longer than usual TSA security lines," a post on the airport's social media sites stated. "We're working with the TSA to streamline the security process as much as possible."

According to Blue Sky News, the airport's news website, the airport saw 18,255 departing passengers pass through the security screening checkpoint on May 24. That's the largest number of daily passengers recorded at the airport since 2019.
The long lines problem should ease when the new $1.5 billion Landside Terminal opens next year. The terminal will offer 11 security lanes, including a dedicated family lane.
