Police: Shoplifter Leaves Giant Eagle Market District with 14 Kinds of Meat

A Braddock man is accused of trying to leave Giant Eagle Market District without paying for a cart filled with more than $400 in food.

Robinson police said Paul Turner, 51, of Braddock, put 14 kinds of meat—steaks, spare ribs, ground meat—and various snacks and pop into a shopping cart July 14 at the Settlers Ridge grocery before pushing the cart out the door and bypassing the checkout counter.

Police said Turner admitted he sells the meat to Jitney drivers to support his drug habit. Turner was charged with felony retail theft. Police said he has two prior retail theft convictions.

Heroin possession charges

David Cox, 33, of Hookstown, charged with possession of heroin and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and traffic violations. Police said Cox admitted to having two stamp bags marked “Batman” and a needle July 14 when police stopped his car for expired 2011 inspection stickers on Steubenville Pike. Police also found him with three empty bags.

Police said a passenger, Mark Lashhorn III, had a full stamp bag of heroin and six empty bags and charged with possession of heroin and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

 

Warrant arrest

A Pittsburgh man was taken into custody after police stopped his rental vehicle because it didn’t have tail lights.

Arbie Bankston, 55, was found to be wanted out of Allegheny County after a stop July 14 on Summit Park Drive and held for the sheriff’s office.

 

Marijuana charges 

Joshua Campbell, 21, of Oakdale, charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police stopped Campbell July 19 for driving his vehicle on Church Hill Road without lights. Police found marijuana in a backpack and glass pipes.
