Student Brings Weapon To Moon Area High School
Police were summoned to a Moon Area high school after a student was found to be possessing a weapon.
MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — Security was bolstered at Moon Area High School and a student was taken into custody Wednesday after bringing a weapon to school.
School Superintendent Barry Balaski said the student was found in the student's possession but there was no immediate threat to any students or staff. He did not specify what type of weapon was involved.
"The police were immediately notified and the situation was handled swiftly," Balaski said in a message posted on the district website. "Both the weapon and the student are with the police after an initial investigation."

Balaski said Moon police have determined that the incident was an isolated one and not related to numerous social media threats against Western Pennsylvania districts and schools over the past several weeks.
According to Balaski, the district plans to pursue disciplinary action in accordance with its Student Code of Conduct.
