Suspect in Hyatt Stabbing Extradited to Pennsylvania
Michael Furman now is held in the Allegheny County Jail.

The West Virginia man charged with stabbing a 27-year-old newlywed at the Hyatt Regency at Pittsburgh International Airport has been extradited to Pennsylvania.Â
Michael Furman, 28, of Weirton, WV, is held in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bond. Furman surrendered to authorities in Steubenville, OH last week.Â
A preliminary hearing for Furman is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 28 at Oakdale District Court.

 is charged with  two counts of aggravated assault, one count of reckless endangerment and one count of unlawful restraint in connection with the hotel stabbing on Jan. 31.Â
Allegheny County Police said Furman followed an East Pittsburgh woman onto an elevator at the hotel, which is located on the grounds of the Pittsburgh International Airport, pushed her against the wall of the elevator and stabbed her in her hamstring. The woman was able to push him away and escape from the elevator. She was treated at Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital for the single-puncture wound and released that same evening.Â

The woman was staying at the hotel with her husband. The two had been married the previous weekend and left on their honeymoon to Florida one day after the attack.Â
Furman turned himself on Feb. 8 by walking into an Army recruiting station in Steubenville. He told an Army recruiter that he was wanted on charges in Pennsylvania.Â
The recruiter took Furman to the Steubenville police department. He was held in the Jefferson County Jail in Steubenville until Feb. 12.Â
