Yet Another Handgun Seized At Pittsburgh Airport
A Florida woman faces a weapons charge after attempting to get a gun through a Pittsburgh International Airport security checkpoint Monday.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — Allegheny County police on Monday seized a .380 caliber handgun at Pittsburgh International Airport's main security checkpoint after Transportation Security Administration officers alerted them to the weapon.
It was the 28th gun confiscated at the airport this year. The record number of guns seized was 44, which occurred last year.
When TSA officers detected the firearm, the checkpoint lane came to a halt until police responded and removed the carry-on bag from the X-ray machine. Police took the firearm and cited the woman, a resident of Florida, on a weapons charge.

Meanwhile, other travelers who were in line were forced to wait until the incident was cleared, delaying them from getting through the checkpoint and to their gate during the day's peak travel time.
“It is concerning to continue to see travelers bring their guns to our checkpoints,” aren Keys-Turner, TSA’s federal security director for the airport, said in a release.

“While I am proud of our officers for their continued vigilance, I am disappointed that gun
owners continue to bring their firearms to our checkpoints. Responsible gun owners always know where their firearms are and they know not to bring them to a checkpoint.”
