Bucks Co., Regional Artists Exhibit Work At Phillips' Mill Show
Many of the artists will be at the mill for meet-and-greets in October. Read the details and see who won prizes in the 92nd juried show.
NEW HOPE, PA — An exhibition considered one of the area's most prestigious is in full swing, showing a variety of work from local and regional artists.
The 92nd Juried Art Show at Phillips' Mill had a "picture-perfect opening weekend," according to a news release.
"I was thrilled with the quality of the work submitted," sculptor Darla Jackson, one of this year's jurors, said. "The hardest part was narrowing down the number of works accepted to fit within the space."

More than 90 framed works line the walls of the historic mill, in addition to 20 sculptures and several overflowing portfolios of unframed oils, watercolors, prints, collages, and mixed media pieces.
"I was amazed at the diversity of approaches," juror Frank Hyder said. "It is exciting to see how much enthusiasm the area artists have."

The mill has been hosting artists since the Pennsylvania Impressionist and area resident William Lathrop organized the very first exhibition in 1929.
"There’s truly nothing quite like the energy behind community arts scenes," Ted Walsh, another juror, said. This kind of energy is important now more than ever.”
Last year's online-only show meant a key component of the experience was missing: the opportunity to move around the space and engage with artists. Laura Womack, art committee chair and Phillips' Mill board member, is excited to see this aspect return.
"Collectors love to visit the Mill when their favorite artists are scheduled," she said. "Artists love to talk to other artists whose work they admire. Art enthusiasts, in general, love to talk about art with the creative souls who make it. And, the artists themselves enjoy meeting people interested in their work."
The schedule of artist meet-and-greets is listed below, and is also updated online. The full list of award winners is included below and can also be found on the website.
The art committee invites and encourages the public to come see the show, visit with the talented artists behind the work, and enjoy some light refreshments on the lower level while browsing. The show runs through Oct. 31, daily from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m, at 2619 River Road.
Admission is $5, with discounts available for seniors and students and free admission for members. Art may be purchased online, too, according to a news release, except while the gallery is open at the Mill.
