NEW HOPE, PA — Longtime New Hope resident and retired police officer Frank DeLuca has won the endorsement of the New Hope & Solebury Democrats in his second bid for mayor of New Hope Borough, his campaign announced this week.

“I believe in building relationships and advocating for policies that serve our entire community,” said DeLuca, a lifelong Democrat and veteran who served as a New Hope police officer for 30 years. “My vision is to secure our vibrant river town’s future as a safe, livable, and beautiful community that welcomes all people.”

The mayor’s primary role in New Hope is to oversee the police department, and DeLuca said his career in community policing is unmatched in the Democratic primary on May 20.

Serving as a New Hope police officer under five mayors and six different police chiefs means he understands how vital cooperation is to serve the best interests of the community, DeLuca said. He also served on Bucks County’s Major Incident Response Team.

In addition to serving the borough as a police officer, DeLuca has on-the-job experience supporting the town's most vulnerable residents as a certified investigator for elder abuse and certified crisis interventionist. Committed to preserving the beauty of New Hope, he's been on the borough’s Shade Tree Commision for the past 25 years. He also volunteers at the arts show every year in various positions.

“The heart and soul of New Hope is in its vibrant and historic downtown commercial district and storied tradition as a center for the arts,” DeLuca said. “It is critical that the mayor supports a balanced approach to development, advocates for residents, preserves our strengths for future generations, and models transparency in government.”

A founder and former organizer of the New Hope Celebrates Pride Parade, DeLuca doesn’t only preach inclusivity, he has worked tirelessly to prioritize inclusion since moving to New Hope in 1981. He is also an active volunteer supporting residents struggling with food insecurity.

“Frank is our endorsed Democratic candidate because he is a dedicated community leader who will be a mayor for everyone,” said Kristin Donnelly, a Democratic committee person for New Hope Borough. “He is also a truly kind and empathetic neighbor who upholds strong Democratic values, including integrity, transparency, and the freedom to be who you are.”

“As a lifelong Democrat and public servant, I am the only candidate in this race with the experience my neighbors can trust to do the job well,” said DeLuca, who ran previously against incumbent Laurence Keller in 2021. “I came within seven votes of winning last time. I’m ready to bring it home.”
