NEW HOPE, PA — Fireworks will again light up the sky in New Hope in conjunction with PrideFest and the New Hope Summer Series.

This week, the New Hope Borough Council approved plans by the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce to hold a combination fireworks and drone show on designated Friday nights from May to September.

Fireworks are also scheduled to light up the sky as part of the chamber’s Summer Series on Fridays, June 6, July 11, August 1, and September 5.

In conjunction with the fireworks, the chamber again plans on blocking off Stockton Avenue between East Bridge Street and West Ferry Street for a corresponding Friday evening Summer Series Block Party contingent upon the chamber working out concerns by the Eagle Volunteer Fire Company regarding emergency access.

The block party typically includes vendor booths, art displays, wine offerings, an outdoor beer garden and live music.

During public comment, a Solebury resident spoke against the fireworks, arguing that they are "toxic to the environment and harmful to wildlife," including nesting Bald Eagles and migrating birds. She suggested that the council "considering discussing the environmental consequences" with its newly formed Environmental Advisory Council.

The council said it would take the suggestion under advisement.
