Gelato Shop Brings Frozen Italian Goodness To Bucks County
The New Hope store is offering a slice of Italy with a focus on authenticity, local flavors, and community.

NEW HOPE, PA — The owner of a Washington, D.C.-based gelati store is bringing its famous artisan Italian frozen delights to Bucks County.
Gianluigi Dellaccio, who operates Dolci Gelati, known throughout the nation's capital for its fresh gelatis, will celebrate the grand opening of the Gelato Shop in New Hope on Friday, May 17 beginning at 2 p.m. at 87 South Main Street in conjunction with the town’s annual Pride Festival.
Gianluigi said they have created a new flavor just for the grand opening. It's called “Rainbow,” a multicolored sorbet-flavored gelato. They will also be handing out free samples of their water ice and ice cream creations to the public.

“Our product is designed to spread happiness in every bite," he adds. "The flavors that you’re going to get at our store will be as equally good if not better then the flavors you’re going to get in Italy.”
While the Gelato Shop and Dolci Gelati boasts hundreds of rotating flavors, its menu at any given time will offer around 24, all crafted from the finest ingredients using a traditional artisan Italian technique.
The process starts every morning with deliveries from local dairy farms and includes handpicked fruits, fine chocolate which Chef Gianluigi imports from a small sustainable farm in Ecuador and tempers himself, and other fresh, rare ingredients.
The gelati is made to order every day in small batches to guarantee the freshness and quality of the product, said Gianluigi. It is then shipped out to its stores through the D.C. area and to New Hope.
Whether it is the richest Sicilian pistachios, hazelnuts from Turin, chocolate from Ecuador or juicy local peaches and strawberries, Gianluigi said what sets his product apart is the choice of the freshest ingredients.
His gelatis have repeatedly been named the best in D.C. by the Washington Post.
"Among our array of flavors, we take pride in our innovative vegan gelato, designed to delight with its creamy texture and depth of flavor, achieved without any dairy products," said Gianluigi. "Our menu features unique creations, including the exclusive 'Salted Caramel Pretzel' and the
award-winning 'Honey Mascarpone Fig Gelato.' Alongside our frozen delights, we offer a selection of Italian coffee and pastries, rounding out the full café experience."

In the nation’s capital, he operates stores at the Smithsonian National Zoo, the Water Park at National Landing, Old Town Alexandria, and at the City Market at O in Shaw. His New Hope venture is the first outside of the D.C. metropolitan area.
Before embarking on his culinary journey, Gianluigi Dellaccio was a star water polo player, representing Naples and Italy with distinction. His crowning achievement came in 1993 when he scored the winning goal, clinching the Italian championship for his team. This spirit of
excellence and determination later fueled his transition from the water polo arena to the world of artisanal gelato.
Becoming the first official gelato ambassador to the United States, his story is one of passion,
transformation, and dedication. His title, a testament to his skill and commitment to gelato, highlights his efforts to promote authentic gelato culture on a global stage.
