In Just 1 Day, GoFundMe For Lambertville Painter Hit By Truck Raises $7.5K

The cyclist and artist was struck while biking on Oct. 19. His friend is raising money to help him as he recovers from his injuries.

LAMBERTVILLE, NJ — A fundraiser for local artist Myles Cavanaugh has raised more than $7,500 of its $8,000 goal in just one day.

According to the GoFundMe created by his friend Colette Sexton, Cavanaugh was struck by a pick-up truck while biking on Oct. 19.

"I am hoping he will make a full recovery overtime, but he has sustained some serious injuries and will be unable to work or paint while he recovers," she wrote.

According to his profile on the Bucks County Artists Database, Cavanaugh grew up in Lambertville and has long been inspired by the landscapes and people of Bucks and Hunterdon counties. He studied art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and has traveled in Spain, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Mexico, Morocco, and the Netherlands.

"I strive to create beauty in my work, focusing on purity, emotion and instinct; balancing between aesthetics and technique," he's quoted as saying. "Bringing forth a sense of feeling and tangibility to my work. My goal is to create paintings that breathe life."

More than 100 people have donated to the fundraiser, propelling it toward its goal.

"Myles is a highly talented independent artist, avid cyclist, and loving father of two," Sexton wrote. "As a lifelong beloved member of the Lambertville-New Hope area, Myles has given much to the community over the years."
