Heavy Rains To Bring Minor Flooding To New Hope, Lambertville

The National Weather Service predicts that after 3-5 inches of rain fell, the Delaware River Basin could see flooding with more rain coming.

NEW HOPE, PA — Minor flooding along the Delaware River Basin is expected around New Hope and Lambertville as many areas in suburban Philadelphia have received 3-5 inches of rain over the past 48 hours, according to the National Weather Service.

And it may not be over.

Weather service officials said Wednesday morning that minor flooding is predicted in the main stem of the non-tidal Delaware River areas near New Hope and Lambertville while moderate flooding is predicted for areas near Tock’s Island and the Delaware Water Gap.

After two days of sunshine Wednesday and Thursday, more rain is expected for the area this weekend with chances of precipitation Friday, Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Weather officials said more flooding may occur this weekend.

Flood forecasts are from the National Weather Service’s Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (NWS AHPS). Residents can visit this site to view more detailed information. Forecasts are current as of Wednesday morning and are anticipated to be updated every 6-12 hours.
