NEW HOPE, PA — A multi-day, online event is planned to benefit The Free Library of New Hope and Solebury.

The Community Buzzathon is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25 through Saturday, Oct. 3. It's sponsored by the library and its board of trustees.

The bee-themed virtual programming is free and designed for all ages and includes online giving challenges.

Programs include "The Health Benefits of Honey," "Beekeeping 101" by the Bucks County Beekeepers Association, "Winnie the Pooh Story Time," "Build a Bee Condo" (a STEAM program), "Plant a Pollinator Garden" with Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve and more.

There will be three giving-challenge days with "first buzzers" earning mystery swag bags, and daily spelling challenges on Facebook.

The online event is taking the place, this year, of the Free Library's main fundraising event, the Community Spelling Bee, which they hope will be back in 2021. All proceeds support the operating fund of the library and will help offset lost income from the spelling bee.
