Barring a successful write-in campaign on Tuesday by the Republicans, who offered no candidates for mayor on Tuesday's Primary ballot, the road is clear for DeLuca to become the town's next mayor, succeeding Larry Keller who decided not to run for re-election.
DeLuca, who formerly served as interim police chief of the town and currently works as a constable, enjoyed the party's endorsement going into Tuesday's election.

"I am running for mayor so that a generation from now, New Hope will continue to remain a worthy destination for everyone," he told New Hope Patch. "I am familiar with many aspects of the position of mayor. I worked as a police officer for many years in the Borough. Both in my work and as a longtime resident, I’ve attended many Borough Council meetings, so I understand how the Borough works.
"As mayor, I will advocate for residents and encourage balanced, environmentally-friendly development when possible, and will work to maintain the natural beauty and historic charm of our beloved town," he said. "I am a big believer in communication and transparency, and will
bring those to the position of mayor."
His challenger, Mary Brashier, brought an extensive background in community advocacy to her campaign for mayor, including work promoting the town as the vice president of the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce.

"I’m running for mayor because I care deeply about New Hope - not just as a destination, but as a community where people live, work, raise families, and belong," she told Patch. "As a parent, longtime resident, Chamber of Commerce Vice President, and active volunteer, I’ve spent years listening to what matters most to our neighbors. I want to bring that same level of commitment, care, and common sense to the mayor’s role."
