New Hope Restaurant Among World's Best Wine Spots: Wine Spectator

NEW HOPE, PA — Nektar, New Hope’s wine bar and restaurant, has again won a prestigious Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for its wine offerings.

The award, given annually by Wine Spectator to the world's best restaurants for wine, singles out the West Mechanic Street restaurant for its Spanish, French, and Italian offerings.

This is the sixth year Nektar has won the award, which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-curated selection of quality producers and wines that also match the restaurant’s cuisine in both style and pricing.

This year, the awards program recognized 3,777 dining destinations from around the world, including the United States and more than 75 other countries.

“The restaurant industry is growing and thriving, with restaurant openings surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time. To take advantage of the uptick, restaurateurs are investing in their wine programs,” Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher of Wine Spectator, said. “Restaurants that make wine a priority are what the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards program is all about.”

Other Bucks County winners include Frost Lounge in Doylestown Borough and Ferry and Main in New Hope.

“We appreciate being recognized for our wine list. Each year we change up the list a bit to keep it interesting,” Nektar tells Patch.

Nektar attributes its success to “many mentors from the Wine & Spirits Educational Trust and The Court of Master Sommeliers that have help shape our philosophy over the years. In that time, we’ve developed great relationships with our regional wine reps that help us curate our wine program.”

The goal at Nektar is to “offer a world-class experience here in Bucks County. It’s nice that you can get access to a cool wine list without having to travel into a major city.”

Nektar is a wine, beer and whiskey bar that is known for creating small plates from products sourced from local farms and suppliers. Small plates, sandwiches, salads, charcuterie meats, artisanal cheeses and desserts provide something for just about any time of day.
