Popular Lambertville Mexican Restaurant To Close
The eatery's owner points to a number of reasons including a shortage of workers, increased competition, utility costs, and other factors.
LAMBERTVILLE, NJ — A Mexican restaurant known for its rustic and contemporary dishes has announced its plans to shut its doors in June.
In a Facebook posting, Aztlan Mexican Grill on Church Street said it will be permanently shutting down on a date in June yet to be determined.
In the posting, the eatery’s owner points to a number of reasons for the decision including a shortage of workers, increased competition, increases in utility and insurance costs, among other factors.

“We will continue to offer you quality Mexican and Texmex food made with fresh and best quality ingredients until the last day that we are open,” the eatery posted.
“Thanks to all the Aztlan customers who have made it possible for the restaurant to remain afloat all this time,” the restaurant added. “I have learned a lot from being in front of a business and today I know that it is not easy if you do not have sufficient resources.

“COVID changed the game in the restaurant industry, at least for me,” the owner added. “This coming May 5th will be different, since we do not have enough staff and we will give priority to all our customers who have a prior reservation.
“There are many things I would like to say but I cannot say enough words,” the owner wrote.
Customers were quick to react.
“You can't close. You're the best restaurant in the whole area,” wrote one on the restaurant's Facebook page.
Another wrote, “You have been one of our favorite restaurants for many years! We're so sorry to see you go; you will be sorely missed. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose to do next!”
“We will miss you terribly, and are so saddened by this news,” another wrote. “Please keep us posted and we hope you continue providing your amazing food to the community in a new and exciting way!”
