Solebury Township Mourning The Loss Of Retired Police Corporal
Corporal John Kenderdine started his police career with Solebury on January 8, 1974 and retired on August 31, 2007.

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — The Solebury Township Police Department and the New Hope Eagle Fire Company are mourning the loss of well-regarded and loved retired police corporal and former Eagle Fire Company chief John Kenderdine. He passed away on Nov. 7.
Corporal Kenderdine started his police career with Solebury on January 8, 1974 and retired on August 31, 2007. He worked for 33 1/2 years serving and protecting the Solebury Township community.
John was a well-known officer throughout the New Hope-Solebury community, spending
time with locals at his favorite eateries. Cpl. Kenderdine also wore another hat, spending many years with the New Hope Eagle Fire Company where he was past chief of the department.
Cpl. Kenderdine performed many functions within the department, including traffic related investigations, vehicle and equipment maintenance and patrol duties. He also worked alongside fellow officers and brought his bigger than life smile along the way. Having a little temper at times John always found his way with dealing with any person or police call.

During his later years with the department Kenderdine was promoted to the supervisory position of police corporal. He worked with many new patrol officers passing along his knowledge and skills.
After retiring from from the department John continued in the law enforcement field becoming one of the founding advisors and volunteering many hours with the Plumstead Township Police Explorer’s Post 5708.

“The Law Enforcement Explorers program is designed to help young adults of the Central Bucks communities to make a more informed decision about future careers and determine if a particular career is right for them.”
John also devoted his time with the Boy Scouts but most importantly he valued his time with family, spending as much with them as he could. As he had a huge heart that resonated with everyone who had contact with him.
Being a Disney enthusiast, John would say, “Goodbye may seem forever, farewell is like the end, but in my heart is a memory and there you’ll always be.”
A celebration of John’s life will be held at the New Hope Eagle Fire Co. at 46 Sugan Road, New Hope 18938 on Saturday, November 19 starting at 1 p.m.
