South Main Street Fight Disperses, 1 Injured: New Hope Crime Report

In other reports, police investigated several traffic accidents, noise complaints, and handling a disorderly customer.

NEW HOPE BOROUGH, PA — For the week of Aug. 4 to 10, the New Hope Borough Police
Department responded to a variety of calls for service and initiated several investigations. Here's a snapshot of some notable incidents from the past week:

Aug. 4

  • Officers on patrol located a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on West Mechanic Street. The matter was cleared following the investigation.
  • Officers responded to a burglar alarm at Wawa. The activation was determined to be accidental.
  • A noise complaint was reported in the area of South Main and East Ferry Street.

  • Officers responded to a harassment complaint on North Sugan Road.
  • A report of fraud was received and documented.
  • Police responded to South Main Street for a report of a suspicious person attempting to gain entry into a closed business. The individuals were located and determined to be only looking through the windows.

Aug. 7

  • New Hope and Solebury officers responded to The Greenhouse for a disorderly person reportedly in possession of a firearm. An investigation determined that the firearm claim was unfounded.
  • While on patrol, officers encountered a large group engaged in a fight on South Main Street. The group dispersed upon police arrival. One victim was located and transported to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment.

  • Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on North Main Street.

Aug. 10

  • Police investigated a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Route 202 and Rabbit Run Drive.
  • A separate traffic accident was investigated in the parking lot of the Wawa.
  • Officers conducted a welfare check at the wing dam on the Delaware River for a reported kayaker in distress. The call was determined to be unfounded; the kayaker was not in distress.
  • A noise complaint was reported in the area of South Main Street and West Ferry Street.
